Trace Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
Our Privacy Promise: We believe your logs are completely private. We do not have servers, and we do not collect, read, or have access to any of the entries, photos, or locations you add to Trace.
1. Data Processed by the App
To function, the Trace app processes certain information locally on your device, including:
- Content you add: Logs and entries (titles, text, timestamps, photos, ratings, and icons/colors).
- Location data: Location data to tag entries, if you explicitly grant location permissions.
None of this data is sent to us.
2. Data Storage and iCloud Sync
- Your data is stored securely on your local device.
- To keep your data safe and synced across your devices, Trace uses Apple's CloudKit. This means your entries are securely synced directly to your personal Apple iCloud account.
- We (the developers) have absolutely zero access to your iCloud database.
3. Diagnostics & Analytics
- We do not integrate any third-party analytics or tracking services (no ads, no trackers).
- Basic, anonymous crash reports and usage metrics are only shared with us through Apple if you have explicitly opted into sharing analytics with developers in your iOS device settings.
4. Managing and Deleting Your Data
- Because you are in full control of your data, you can edit or delete logs and entries at any time directly within the app.
- If you uninstall the app, local data is removed. Data synced to your iCloud can be managed or deleted through your Apple ID settings.
- You can revoke location permissions at any time via your iOS Settings.
5. Changes to This Policy
- We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes. We will always revise the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
